The first production sale of pedigree Limousins from Henry Savage and Sons' Trueman herd from Cullyhanna, proved a huge success attracting a lead price of 17,100gns and a 100% clearance.

Home of the record priced bull, Trueman Jagger which sold for 140,000gns at Carlisle in 2015, this online sale featured just 13 lots from the award winning Northern Ireland herd established in 1997.

Sale leader was the 11-month-old heifer, Trueman Pixie – the first daughter sold by the 20,000gns stock bull Telfers Munster, bred from top brood cow, Trueman Foxtrot, which goes back to the foundation female, Bellview Mystical.

The Scottish Farmer:

The sole bull entered, Trueman Pharrell, made 9800gns

Maternal sister to the 2017, Balmoral inter-breed champion, Trueman Lute, Pixie made 17,100gns selling to new breeder Trevor Shields, who is better known for his successful pig business, Glenmarshal Sires based in Kilkeel, Co Down.

Mr Shields also bought the third top priced lot at 8400gns, Trueman Ora and the lead priced implanted embryo at 5400gns.

Ora, a March 2018-born heifer is by Kilcor Iceman and bred from the Ampertaine Elgin daughter, Trueman Indie which is out of the top breeding female, Trueman Euphonium. She sold in calf to Munster.

The recipient carrying the implanted embryo which is half way through pregnancy, will result in a calf by Munster and bred from Trueman Nadine, which also goes back to Euphonium but sired by Trueman Jagger.

The Scottish Farmer:

Trueman Ora also sold to Trevor Shields at 8400gns

When planning this online sale in conjunction with the Pedigree Sales Online platform pioneered by Tom Staunton, the Savage Family decided to sell just young bull in the shape of Trueman Pharrell, which made 9800gns. Another by Telfers Munster, and out of the top show heifer, Trueman Lute, this 13-month-old sold across the Irish sea, having been purchased by David Lord, of the Garrowby herd, York.

Martin McConville, of the Glenlimo herd from Newry bought Trueman Poshspice for 7100gns. The last of the Telfers Munster daughters for sale, this 11-month-old is also a grand-daughter of Euphonium, being out of the Mereside Lorenzo daughter, Trueman Nancy.

The first five calves by Telfers Munster, most of which were under a year old, averaged £9030.

Averages: In-calf recipients, £4830; frozen embryos, £1785. Overall, 13 lots, £7875.
