Retail giant Asda continues to let Scottish consumers down with no Scotch lamb on it's shelves, according to The Scottish Farmer's Retail Radar, which reveal that most of its range is imported from New Zealand and Australia.
It does nevertheless contain 23% of beef products that are labelled Scotch.
Figures for the week commencing August 10, again show Aldi and Tesco way ahead when it comes to supporting local farmers, with the former boasting 96% of its beef products being Scotch with 93% of its lamb range. All others are British.
Just behind, Tesco saw 88% of its beef range being Scotch with the remainder being British with lamb accounting for 67%. Imported New Zealand product made up 8% of the category.
