A new breed record price of 23,000gns, for a Highland bull was achieved at United Auctions' Stirling, when Michael Poland dispersed his Mottistone fold.
The bull, Eoin Mhor 17 of Mottistone, a February 2015-born bull sold to new breeders Kevin and Ryan Carnegie of Balrownie Farms, Brechin. He is by Eoin Mhor of Miungairigh and bred from Solas Molach 4 of Mottistone.
Balrownie Farms bought a number of the top females from the fold which is based in the Isle of Wight and at Benderloch, Oban, where the cattle are managed by Willie McLean.
They also went to 8800gns for the first cow in the ring, Flora 4 of Mottistone which sold with heifer calf at foot and 5500gns for the in-calf heifer, Kerrie 4 of Mottistone
