Retail giant Asda has again chosen to ignore Scottish flockmasters with another week of no Scotch lamb on their shelves with most imported from Australia and New Zealand.
Having contacted its chief executive, Roger Burnley on several occasions, the supermarket has yet to come up with an answer as to why it does not support Scottish lamb and worse still, why most is imported from the other side of the world at a huge cost to the environment, when the majority of the population now look for locally produced food.
Furthermore, only 26% of its beef is from North of the Border and 7% is from Ireland.
In contrast, most of the other supermarkets support Scottish and indeed British farmers, with Aldi topping the league with 92% of its beef products and 88% of its lamb being Scotch with all others being British.
