A re-scheduled United Auctions Stirling Bull Sales to get round social distancing restrictions as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, proved successful with the first day's trading of Aberdeen Angus witnessing a top price of 10,000gns and an average up £455 on the year.

Sale leader amongst the bulls was Ettrick Batman, from father and son duo, Gordon and David Gray, Sunnycroft, Lindean, which sold up to Banff with Cameron Ewen, Meikle Toux.

A son of Linton Gilbertines President, a bull bought for 17,000gns after standing pre-sale champion here, Batman is out of the Thrunton Predator daughter, Ettrick Bella.

Second top price was 9000gns paid for Mike and Melanie Alford's Foxhill Dominator, all the way from Devon, which sold to AJ and WM Norrie, Wrae, Turriff.

He is bred from the GH Coverboy Eric daughter, Weeton Diamond Mist bought at the Weeton herd sale in 2015, and sired by Gretnhouse Blacksmith.

A solid trade for the best of the bulls ensured 40 sold to average £5051, which represents a rise of £455 on the year with 18 fewer sold, with a 66% clearance.
