Sons of Ampertaine Limousin sires proved popular at an autumn club sale at Welshpool, attracting the top two prices amongst the bulls at 10,000gns and 5000gns.

Topping the trade at 10,000gns was Sarkley Paragon, an 18-month-old son of Ampertaine Elgin, from EH Pennie and Son, Gwern Yr Ychain, Montgomery, Powys, purchased by Oxfordshire-based Messrs Potter, Goosey, Farington. Paragon is bred from the Haltcliffe Doctor-sired cow, Sarkley Irondelle

The similarly aged bull, Woodmarsh Pioneer by Ampertaine Foreman, then made 5000gns selling to Messrs Hughes, Prion, Denbigh, Clwyd. Consigned by Mick Gould, Grange Farm, Bomere Heath, his dam, Trueman Miranda, a 7000gns purchase from Henry Savage and Sons, is by the 140,000gns Trueman Jagger.

Just behind on 4800gns, Dylans Oblivion, a two-year-old from GJ Morris, Lower Drostre, Llanwern, Brecon, was bought by Messrs Pritchard, Llangattock, Crickhowell, Powys. The breeding here includes Foxhillfarm Logan onto the Goldies Glenfiddach sired, Dylans Magical.

Mr Morris also sold the top priced female at 6200gns in the shape of the four-year-old cow, Dylans Margarita, a Sympa daughter out of the Wilodge Vantastic daughter, Dylans Fanta. Full sister to Dylans Irn Bru, which has bred a number of bulls that have sold for more than 10,000gns at Carlisle, Margarita sold with April-born bull calf at foot by Swarland Eddie, and in calf to Ampertaine Majestic, to Messrs Jones, Pentrefoelas, Betws Y Coed, Conway.
