Longhorn cattle met a solid demand at Worcester, selling to 5400gns for the female and reserve overall champion, Treverton Truffle.

This two-year-old heifer from Rachael Heard, Welford, Northants, is by Tanfield Pilot Ex93 and out of Treverton Quest VG87. She caught the eye of Jane Grant, Easingwold, Yorkshire, who bought several cattle to include the lead priced bull at 4000gns.

Selling at this price was the March 2019-born Gupworthy Thruxton, a son of Newton Yahoo out of Gupworthy Quoditch, from G and J Woollatt, St Arvans, Chepstow.

Also heading home on the same lorryload up to Yorkshire at 3000gns was the reserve female champion, Carreg Sweetpea, from BM Llewellyn, Trapp, Llandeilo. A rising three-year-old, Sweetpea is a daughter of Fishwick Macavity and bred from a home-bred cow by Underknoll Focus.

Yvonne Ferguson of the Maudlin herd from Steyning, West Sussex, then went to 2800gns for the 15-month-old heifer, Gentons U2, from B Facon, Banbury. The breeding here includes Riverlands Ratty onto Blackbrook Ysolde VG87.

Recouping some of that investment, Mrs Ferguson sold the four-year-old bull Gorse Yukon for 2600gns. Bred by the Brigg family, this former herd sire is by Gentons 007 James Bond and out of the 12,000gns record breaking Gorse Rosa. He was also bought by Jane Grant, Yorkshire.

Draft of females sold on behalf of AG and RM Goodman, Great Witley, Worcester, hit a top of 1580gns for the June 2016-born Witley Quirita, a Blackbrook Ulric daughter sold with a registered heifer calf at foot by Wellhead Owain. Securing this outfit was A and P Hill, Bucknell, Shropshire.
