Pedigree Limousin cattle from David, Ronald and Stephanie Dick's Ronick and Stephick herds from Mains of Throsk, Stirling, met a bumper trade at Carlisle attracting three five-figure sales and some cracking averages to go with it.
The production sale from the two herds attracted huge interest with a packed ringside forward for the event coupled with in excess of 200 online registered bidders.
Top price was 14,000gns paid for the polled December 2019-born heifer, Ronick Pleasure. She is by the 17,000gns, Rathconville Eugene and bred from the Wilodge Granville-sired Ronick Joy, which is a grand daughter of top show cow, Ronick Janita. Pleasure, which carries NT821 and Q204X myostatins, sold to new breeder, Trevor Shields buying for his Glenmarshal herd from Kilkeel, Newry, Northern Ireland.
Ronick Pizazz made 11,000gns
Mr Shields bought another two of the top priced lots at 11,000gns and 7800gns. Dearest was Ronick Pizazz, a January 2019-born heifer by Wilodge LJ, bred from the Eugene daughter Ronick Jazzy. She boasts two sets of the F94L 'profit' myostatin gene, and sold in calf to Broadmeadows Cannon for later in the year.
Ronick Maho and her heifer calf Sopretty sold for 7800gns
Selling for 7800gns was Ronick Maho, a five-year-old by the 23,000gns Goldies Comet out of the Bailea Olympia-sired Ronick Daho, which is a Bailea Olympia daughter bred from the bought in, Daranside Idaho. Maho sold in calf to Westpit Nando and with her April-born heifer calf at foot, Ronick Sopretty also by Nando.
Also making 11,000gns was Ronick Popsicle
Ronick Popsicle also achieved 11,000gns when catching the eye of Ian Miller, buying for the Millers herd from Midmar, Inverurie. This 21-month-old heifer is by the 7000gns Wilodge Granville, out of the Eugene-sired Ronick Icicle and sold with myostatin genes of NT821 and Q204X.
Top priced yearling heifer at 8000gns was the May 2020-born Ronick Ruth, a Wilodge Granville daughter, bred from the Stephick Hero-sired Ronick Lucy. Ruth displays myostatins of NT821 and Q204X and sold to Dermot Small, Newry, Co Down, Northern Ireland.
The six-year-old cow, Ronick Lightening and her heifer calf, Ronick Shootingstar, made 7000gns selling to Alan MacGregor, Bannockburn, Stirling. Lightening is by Rathconville Eugene and out of the Bailea Olympus-sired Ronick Delight while Shootingstar is a daughter of the 45,000gnsAmpertaine Jamboree.
Heading up to Orkney to Messrs' Baillie's Sebay herd at 6000gns was the four-year-old cow, Ronick Nicole and her Millgate Ohboy-sired heifer calf, Ronick Smartie. Another by Stephick Hero, which is a Ronick Gains son, Nicole is bred from the Eugene-sired cow, Ronick Honest and sold due to Westpit Nando.
Matching that 6000gns when selling up to Inverurie with Davidsons Farm, was Ronick Pandora, a January 2019-born heifer by Ampertaine Jamboree out of Ronick Davina. She displays myostatin traits of F94L/Q204X and is the only animal on offer in calf to Castlebrook Paddington.
Just behind, on 5900gns Ronick Nigella, a four-year-old Stephick Hero daughter in calf to Westpit Nando sold with heifer calf Senorita at foot, to mid Wales producers, G and A Orrells, Abermule, Montgomery.
