IT was a memorable day for GM Jones at the Welshpool spring show and sale of pedigree Charolais, when his Esgob herd not only scooped the champion and reserve honours but also the top two prices at 10,000gns and 9000gns.

Sale leader was the pre-sale champion Esgob Ugo, a 15-month-old son of Solwayfirth Peterpan – a 14,000gns purchase from Iain and Dot Goldie at Stirling in February 2021. Ugo is out of the Caylers Hustler daughter Escob Peach, and sold with calving figures of +11 to DA Jones and Co, Llandidloes, Powys.

Peterpan was also behind the reserve champion Esgob Trebor, a December 2022-born entry bred from another Hustler daughter that made 9000gns selling to BA and OLL Jones, Llwyn Manon Isaf, Criccieth.
