Prices peaked at 4200gns at the Summer Sale of pedigree Beef Shorthorns at Longtown which included a part dispersal of the FW Graham's Fieldhouse herd from Ilton, Ripon.

Sale leader was the second calved polled cow, Beautry Dewdrop Nighting from Stuart Currie, Beautry House Rathmell, which sold to A Wilson and Son, Gordale, Skipton. A daughter of Stonehills Jackpot, out of Shawhill Dewdrop Fairlady, this 2019-born female sold with five-month-old bull calf, Beautry Sherlock, by Jodame Nobleman, at foot.

Next best at 2500gns was the reserve champion at the pre-sale show, selected by judge, Ian Park. This was Louise Crowther's in-calf heifer, Buckenhill Rosewood Peggy, from Bromyard, Herefordshire. She is by Stanfordpark Libertine and was knocked down to H and K Farms, Hoddam, Dumfriesshire.

The champion, Shawhill Foxglove Priscilla, by Fearn Godfather, from Shawhill Shorthorns, Newlands, Lockerbie, made 2400gns, selling to L and G Guild, Back of Laight, New Cumnock.

Other in-calf heifers from H and N Sloan, Burnfoot, Lauder, sold at 2250gns and 2000gns, both of which were purchased by Messrs Hyslop, Netherton, while Charles Lowther, Nord Vue Farms sold at 2100gns to Messrs Gray, Unthank.

Andrew Morton, Lochend, Denny, also went to 2100gns for Gradi Margo, a Rothesay Eildon-sired cow, with heifer calf, from R and J Byers, Whitehill, Brampton.

The first prize maiden heifer from Jamie Biggar, Grange, Castle Douglas, Chapelton Waterloo 7317, a Balnabroich Kermit daughter, made 2050gns selling to Luke Anthony, Effledge, Kirkton, Lauder.

Mr Graham's dispersal hit a top of 2100gns for Fieldhouse Nightjar, a Gregors Loch Ness daughter with bull calf, purchased by Messrs Benn, Irton, Holmrook.
