Garrowby and Tomschoice sell Limousins at 5100gns

First to reach this price was the champion at the previous day’s Northern Limousin Extravaganza, Garrowby Sultan, from Garrowby Farms, Bugthorpe, York.

He is by Gunnerfield Hicks, a bull acquired as a 13-month-old from Ian Handley’s Gunnerfleet herd which went on to breed sons to 22,000gns.

Sultan which is bred from a Plumtree Fantastic cow, Gunnerfleet Oreine, sold south with JN and JR Appleby, Lincolnshire.

Sharing the 5100gns joint top price was the lead female, Tomschoice Oohlala, from James and Sarah Cooper, Dacre, Harrogate. Their five-year-old cow by Netherhall Jupiter is bred from Kaprico Eravelle cow, Tomschoice Hottotty.

Oohlala sold with her third calf, Tomschoice Troubadour, a December-born son of Scorboro Nero, to S and R Speakman, Bury.

The 2017-born Fenomen son, Scarboro Nero, whose sons have averaged just over £4000 for the Tomschoice herd was also on parade, winning the senior male championship, before selling at 3700gns to O and J Turner, Helperby, Hambleton.

Two bulls sold for 5000gns, with the first being the 26-month-old Ewdenvale Samson, from Stephen Wilde, Bradfield, Sheffield. A Mereside Lorenzo son bred from an Ampertaine Bravo cow, he sold to the Caton family, Weston, Otley.

Matching that price was Brontemoor Tomohawk, from the Priestley family, Kirkcambeck. Reserve male at the Extravaganza, this February 2022-born son of the Irish bull, Carnew Millreef, sold to D and R Cousins, Kirkbymoorside.

The Priestleys arrived with a solid pen of bulls with Brontemoor Superhero, by Shatton Pedro, selling at 4400gns, to CJ and DN Metcalfe, Healey, Masham; Brontemoor Swanky, by Knock Msport, making 4300gns to David Cockett, Ingleton, and Brontemoor Sugardaddy, by Shatton Pedro, hitting 4200gns to DE and AM Hudson, Shap.

On the other side of the coin, Brontemoor went to 2800gns for the 2022-born maiden heifer, Blackfriar Tilly, a black-coated March daughter of Newhouse Fullback, from William and Michael Morton, Norton Disney, Lincoln.
