Criffel View Romeo, an almost all-black British Blue bull from David and Lynn Watret, Muirfield, Hightae, Lockerbie, topped a multi-breed Pedigree Beef sale at Carlisle when selling for 7000gns.

The select sale of British Blues, Aberdeen-Angus and Blondes was led by a two-year-old by Greystone Noveltee, bred from the Cromwell Fendt daughter, Criffel View Kendra.

Champion at the pre-sale show, reserve male at the Stars of the Future, first at the Royal Highland and second at the Great Yorkshire, Romeo sold to Messrs Baillie, Kirkcowan, Newton Stewart, Wigtownshire.

British Blues secured all the top prices with Graham Morgan’s Almeley Raikonen, an all-white bull from Tillington, Hereford, selling for 6500gns to Messrs Hughes, Middleton St George, Darlington.

This May 2021-born entry is by Almeley Wellington and bred from a home-bred cow by Pinnacle Hero.

The reserve champion, Top Side Sabrina, an 18-month-old heifer from Ross and Elaine Pattinson, Temon Farm, Brampton, topped the females at 5500gns.

This black and white entry is the sixth natural-born calf from the show cow, Top Side Isla and sired by Naby Goldddust.

She was knocked down to Messrs Orr, Bathgate, West Lothian.
