Newlogie Torpedo, a Charolais bull owned by Aberdeenshire-based AJR Farms, has been sold privately for £13,000.

The Newlogie herd which is managed by Andrew Reid, is home to 40 pedigree Charolais herd, with Torpedo being a February 2022-born bull backed by French genetics on both sides.

His dam is Newlogie Opale, a Mannequin RJ daughter bought from France as a heifer in 2019 for €11,500 as a foundation female. She has already bred sons to £12,000, £10,000, £7500 and £6000.

The Newlogie herd which is managed by Andrew Reid, is home to 40 pedigree Charolais herd. Torpedo's sire is Newlogie Nobel, a Hatenon son, that was also imported from France as a 10-month-old calf in 2017 for €17,500 euros with his first two sons selling to pedigree herds.

Nobel's first daughter also bred last year's Stars of the Future continental calf champion, while his second daughter was female champion and reserve overall champion at the Royal Highland in 2023.

Torpedo sold to David Barker of the Caylers herd, Oxford, who said: "We are delighted to have purchased this exciting young bull. He has the presence, style, and looks we were searching for as well as a pedigree with completely new bloodlines for our herd.

"He is out of an exceptional breeding cow and having looked around the Newlogie herd, it was clear to see how well both the mother and father are breeding."
