Aberdeenshire Charolais breeder, David McKenzie, has come out on top selling another bull privately from his Thurso herd for £15,000.

Mr McKenzie, who is also ruminant director for feed company, Harbro, sold the December 2024-born Thurso Voltaire to pedigree and commercial producer, Keith Eunson, Braebuster Farm, Dearness, Orkney.

Voltaire which boasts calving ease figures of +7.2, is a son of the stock sire, Maerdy Pope, a bull backed by Maerdy and French genetics on both sides and owned in partnership with his breeder, Esmor Evans. The dam, Thurso Samara is a heifer by the previous stodk bull, Maerdy Ignition.
