Girl power proved a winning formula at the timed online 50 Shades of Sheep sale, staged through Harrison and Hetherington, when Badgerface Texel ewe lambs from Caroline Brown and Sheila Mason, produced the top two prices.

Dearest from Clapham, Lancashire-based flock at £5800 was Brown and Mason Devine, a January-born ET lamb bred from a flush from Tamtain Blackbird – a 7500gns sale by John and Bryony MacGregor, Allanfauld, last year – and sired by the imported ram, Dustin.

Devine was purchased by Messrs Needham, Colchester who also went to £5500 for Brown and Mason Dude, a March-born ET ram lamb from the same home. Dude is the result of the 13,000gns Woodies Zara purchase which sold with recipient dam carrying Dude in utero. The sire is Hunters Cameron, another Scottish-bred animal.

Living up to her name, Cleenagh Classy Girl ET, a Badgerface Texel gimmer from Clive Richardson's Northern Ireland-based flock, made £5500 selling to Henry Jewitt, Co Durham. Maternal sister to the £5300 Cleenagh Beauti which sold last year, Classy girl is bred from an imported ewe by a Woodies sire and sired by Cleenagh Bodybuilder.

The Cleenagh flock of Adrian and Clive Richardson also topped the Blue Texels and the Dutch Spotted at £4700 and £3950, respectively, with both purchased by undisclosed buyers.

The former, a choice February-born ET ewe lamb is the result of a flush from Cleenagh Ewe Darling and sired by Cleenagh Extremist.

The Dutch Spotted entry, an imported ewe sold with a choice ram or ewe lamb by Drumkirk Decider.

Texels were topped at £1450, by a gimmer by Castlecairn Doodlebug from Gary Beacom's Lakeview flock from Northern Ireland, purchased by Messrs Dixon, Lockerbie.
