Banffshire Blue Texel breeder, Jennifer Duncan, came home in style from a breed society show and sale at Worcester, having bought the top priced lot at 7000gns.

Selling at this price was the pre-sale champion – selected by Aberdeenshire breeder, Stuart Hunter – a ewe lamb from Rhys Cooke, Abergavenny. His Nantyderri Going For Gold ET, is bred from the Derg Churchill daughter, Nantyderri Evelyn and sired by Cleenagh Xquizit. Going for Gold was also first in her class at the Royal Welsh.

Her full sister, another ewe lamb from Mr Cooke, made 2500gns selling to JA Halbert, West Linton.

Top price amongst the males was 5000gns paid for the shearling ram, Hackney Fury from Shifnal, Shropshire-based Paul Tippetts and Christine Williams. By Hackney X-Factor, he’s out of the 10,000gns Hackney Beth, a Joe’s Alvin daughter and sold to the judge Stuart Hunter, of the Hunters flock, based at Insch.

Mr Hunter also bought his choice of male and reserve overall champion – Brandon Fone at 4000gns from Heather Timms, Coventry. He is by Dulas Comet and out of a home-bred female by a Mac tup.

Next at 3500gns was Brutey’s Blues Fred from Paul and Delyth Brute, Brecon. By Whatmore Eagle, he’s out of a C.J’s Will-I-Am home-bred daughter and also heads up the road to Aberdeenshire, this time with Stasa Moyse for her Saltire Blues flock.

Ram lambs peaked at 2900gns for Caryl Howell’s first prize winner and reserve male champion, Caryl’s Blues Gucci. This ET-bred son of Cairnrock Fully Loaded carries full Dutch breeding on the dam side and was knocked down to D Smithem, Chesterfield.

Top price amongst the gimmers was 1550gns for Dovery Fern from JJ Comer and C Simpson, Llandovery. Reserve female at the pre-sale show, she is by a Hackney sire, bred from a Hackney All Gold daughter and was knocked down to F Riley, Burnley, Lancs.
