A pen of 14 Blackface ewe hoggs from W Graham and Son, Craigdarroch, topped United Auctions sale of 6084 breeding sheep at Stirling, when selling at £320.
The show and sale of hoggs with lambs at foot was led by the champion pen, Texel crosses from JW Kay and Co, Gass, Straiton, which made £210 per life.
Judge Matthew Jack, Carriston, found his reserve in the first prize pen of Mules from Alex McKenzie & Partners, Ardgate, which later sold for £200.
Averages improved in all sections of hoggs with lambs at foot. Scotch Mules levelled at £167.48 per life (+£0.76) on the year with Texel crosses at £161.59 (+£12.69); Aberfield crosses at £175.90 (+£41.54); Cheviot/Mules, £156.98 (+£21.46) and Suffolk crosses at £156.67 (+£24.25).
Dry Blackface ewe hoggs improved by £90.78 per head on the year to level at £232.27.
Ewes and gimmers with lambs at foot peaked at £150 per life for Suffolks from A and M Barr, Easter Bucklyvie
