Focus on high milk quality has never been higher with cow wellbeing, milk quality, provenance, and sustainable practices more important than ever and that trend set to continue according to a report from the Fullwood Packo Group.

As one of the leading international providers of integrated milking and cooling solutions, the Group has been providing the industry with milking robots that make milking smarter and more innovative for more than 20 years.

It has also introduced FullCount – a smart sensor that works within their M²erlin milking robot – which helps to improve milk quality by putting cow health first.

By analysing whilst the cow is being milked, FullCount uses innovative technology to determine the somatic cell count figure in the milk. For farmers, this means peace of mind as they are in control of sending high quality milk to their tank. Not only does this guarantee consistent results for the farmer, it also helps to protect overall cow health.

The system combines with other smart sensors like FullQuest and CrystaLab to unlock even more functionality, reliably puts high quality milk in the tank for farmers, while ensuring optimal udder health and better cow health.

“A cow-first approach is the guiding philosophy for Fullwood Packo,” says Glenn De Buf, product manager of Automated Milking Systems at Fullwood Packo.

“FullCount is an inline sensor which directly supports that mission by focusing fully on milk quality monitoring without the slightest disruption to milking.”

Smart monitoring also assists in highlighting cow health issues such as mastitis earlier and therefore protects profitability while preventing distress and discomfort for the cow.

“Understanding and innovation are key values at Fullwood Packo,” says Glenn. ”We work closely with dairy farmers and take the time to listen to their concerns and ambitions – not just for themselves, but for the dairy industry as a whole. Every solution we create is designed to satisfy that feedback. From improving milk quality and promoting superb cow health to supporting individual business profitability, we are doing our part to make the dairy industry more sustainable and advanced.”

With more dairy farms seeking out a robotic milking solution that meets their needs, Fullwood Packo says they aim to meet the needs of individual farmers.
