Plans are in place for the Aberdeen and Northern Marts' Thainstone Spectacular show and sale of calves with further show potential.

The annual event, which last year was held online due to Covid-19 restrictions, will take place on Friday, August 20 at Thainstone Centre, Inverurie.

Under current Covid-19 guidelines, Aberdeen and Northern Marts can welcome exhibitors back into the Exchange Hall to parade their animals, while giving prospective buyers the chance to view the judging at the pre-sale show held on the morning of the event.

Pre-sale judge is James May, Bromsgrove, Worcester, who is a keen commercial cattle showman at events throughout the UK.

John Angus, head of livestock at Aberdeen and Northern Marts, said: “The Spectacular show and sale is one of our highlights of the year at Thainstone, attracting tremendous stock bred in Scotland.

“After a difficult period of no shows, we are hopeful that this will be our first one to kick off the show buzz again, giving enthusiasts the chance to get back into the ring again and buyers the opportunity to purchase top-quality calves with future show potential.

Entries are now open and will close on Friday, August 6.
