Entries from the Harries family's Hope flock from Wenant, Carmarthenshire, secured two of the top three prices at the Jacob Sheep Society's annual show and sale at St Boswells.

Sale leader at 1200gns was the four-horned ram lamb, Hope Randy Rock, a January-born triplet lamb by the Hope Rocky son, Hope Rocky Boy, bred from a ewe by Hyndshaw Highland Laddie. The buyers were S and H Griffiths, Rhydhowell, Kidwell.

The Griffiths' also went to 1000gns for the Harries' similarly aged four-horned ewe lamb by the same sire but bred from a ewe by Overdale Robert Price.

Another four-horned Hope ewe lamb, this time by Gleannmor Xcess and out of a Gobaith ewe, made 700gns to Helen Baillie buying for her Hyndshaw flock from Carluke.

The late Gordon Connor and Scott Dalrymple of the Dunmor flock from Linlithgow, sold the lead priced gimmer at 1100gns to Ewen Macmillan, Lurg, Fintry, Glasgow. Selling at this price was a four-horned gimmer by the Kinloch Franco son, Pentrenant Pimms, bred from a ewe by Dunmor Xerox.

Mr Macmillan who owns the Luruha flock then went to 700gns for a ewe lamb by Milldale Toby Jones from Jackie Jones Milldale flock from Wern, Welshpool.

The dispersal of Chelsea Lamb's Jed Water flock from Bairnkine, Jedburgh, peaked at 400gns for a four-horned gimmer by Deanburn Yorgie, purchased by Messrs Moore, Newton le Willows, Bedale, North Yorks.
