Dutch Spotted sheep records were smashed at the Spotacular breed sale at Worcester, last weekend, when an imported ewe from David Roberts' Boyo flock sold for a whopping 20,000gns.

Achieving an all breeds centre female record into the bargain, was an aged ewe bred by Joost Louter, in The Netherlands, but consigned by Mr Roberts who farms in Kenley, Shrewsbury. His entry met intense bidding in the sale ring and online and was finally knocked down to Jonathan and Janet Corbett, buying for their for their Wedderburn flock from Newent, Glos.

The couple also bought the second top priced lot at 6500gns, another imported ewe bred by Joost Louter from Mr Roberts' Boyo flock.

Dumfriesshire breeders, Andrew and Pam Parker's Lochlad flock from Lochmaben, produced the lead priced gimmer at 4000gns when selling to Trevor Prew, Chipping Norton, Northants. This was Lochlad Deziree, another backed by imported genetics on both sides, with the sire being Avalanche, onto one of the flock's foundation females.

The couple were back in the money amongst the males, selling the top priced shearling ram at 1100gns. Lochlad Dapper, another by Avalanche, was bred from the imported ewe Bianca, and purchased by Gregory Blunsdon, Swindon, Wiltshire.

Next best amongst the gimmers at 2500gns was Pentre Danielle from Roger, Gill and Sian Jones, Ruabon, Wrexham, North Wales. She is by the imported ram Barnstormer, out of a Dutch-bred ewe and sold to A Whitcomb, Brecon, Powys, who also went to 2200gns for the ewe lamb, Cnwch Emiliana, from Dale and Robbie Wilson, Llandrindod Wells, Powys. Emiliana is a daughter of Merryboro Dewi.

The Wilsons were behind the top priced ram lamb too when their sold their red ticket holder from the Great Yorkshire Show, Cnwch Endeavour, which was bred from the same ewe as their 2200gns ewe lamb. He is by Hiroshima and sold to the Jones' for their Pentre flock, Wrexham.

Stirling breeders, Andy Beattie and his daughter Lauren Kennedy, Carlaustan, Kippen, bought the highest priced ewe lamb at 2500gns. This was Merryboro Elsie, a daughter of the home-bred ram, Merryboro Cracker, from Tom and Louise Nash, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. She is also bred from an imported ewe.

Hot on her heels was the Nash's son-in-law's lead priced ewe lamb at 2200gns from Brian Davies, Haverfordwest. Ty-Gwyn Eve is backed by Scottish genetics on both sides being bred from a Tardoes ewe by the imported sire, Cavan, and sired by Tardoes Dundee. Final bidders here were MJ and L Robertson, buying for their Lakeside flock from Bristol, Somerset.

Ayrshire-based breeder, David Morrison, Dalwyne, Barr, also bought a ewe lamb from Mr Davies at 2000gns, in the shape of Ty-Gwyn Electric Lady, by Ty-Gwyn Dragon.

Ewe lambs made a strong trade throughout withWhatmore Envy, from Sara Gibbons' Brecon-based flock, making 2100gns to CM Difford, Nelson, Mid Glamorgan. Imported genetics are again behind this transaction with the sire being Spaniard.
