On Tuesday, Lawrie and Symington held their second sale of 1784 Mule and Texel females including two stock dispersals, which ensured a buoyant trade, with prices soaring to £480 for Texel gimmers from Messrs Orr, Wester Walston

Mule gimmers were topped at £200 from Messrs Lewis, Glendarroch, whilst Mule ewe lambs peaked at £146 from Messrs Simpson, Kirkhouse.

Newton Stewart

A 89% clearance rate was achieved at Craig Wilson's annual Ram Fair which saw 129 tups and females forward.

A joint top price of £1150 was achieved on two occasions, firstly for a Texel shearling from A Clark and Son, West Glengyre, and again for a Texel cross Charollais shearling from G Hurcomb, Bankhead.

Lambs reached £680 for a Texel from A Grant, High Croach.

Lazonby and Carlisle

Harrison and Hetherington held their Lazonby and Carlisle combined sensational sale of North of England Mule gimmers which attracted an increased entry of 3200 head which averaged £172.88 (+£13.51 on the year).

The champion pen from Messrs Harrison, Sceugh, sold for the top price of £235, with their run of 254 cashing in at £216.89.

Dingwall and Highland Marts held their Highland Mule breeding sheep show and sale, where gimmers and ewe lambs averaged £179.24 (+£36.51 on the year) and £145.04 (+£32.54) respectively.

The champion pen of gimmers secured £250 lead price for Ballindalloch Home Farm, while ewe lambs sold to £215 from Viewhill Farm, Dores.

Cheviot gimmers sold to £205 from Coxton, Cornhill, with ewe lambs to £145 for Achnabat, Torness.

Averages were up on the year in all sections at United Auctions' sale of 7521 breeding sheep, with Scotch Mule ewe lambs and Blackface ewe lambs cashing in at £116.33 (+£20.64 on the year) and £72.04 (+£3.11) respectively, whilst Scotch Mule gimmers balanced out at £169.08 (+£16.96).

Scotch Mule ewe lambs were topped at £160 from G and F Donald, North Deanhead, whilst gimmers realised £212 from R and A Paterson, Over Abington.
