Charollais females met a strong demand at the Saucy sale at Worcester, where clearance rates of 97% for ewe lambs and 96% for gimmers were achieved.

Sale leader at 3600gns was a gimmer from Welsh breeder, Adrian Davies' Glyn Coch flock from LLandeilo, selling to David Roberts, buying for his Boyo ewes based in Shrewsbury. She is by Wernfawr Stormer, out of a Brydan ewe that produced the 4600gns Glyn Coch Up and Under and sold AI’d to the 8500gns Logie Durno Wall Street.

Mr Roberts also bought the second top priced lot at 3500gns, a ewe lamb from Michael and Melanie Alford's Foxhill flock from Devon. Foxhill Wild Rose is by Rockvilla Ferrari and out of a home-bred Logie Olympian daughter.

The breeders of Logie Olympian and Wall Street, William and Carole Ingram, from Pitcaple, Aberdeenshire, received 3400gns for a ewe lamb the 16,000gns Foxhill Va Va Voom, bred from a Loanhead Talisman daughter. Full sister to Wall Street and the 10,000gns Logie Durno Washington, she was knocked down to Glen Baird, of Arghavilly Charollais, Co Armagh.

The Ingram’s second lamb, also by Va Va Voom, but out of a Logie Durno Jackpot daughter, made 3000gns to Declan Miley, Knockcroghery, Co Roscommon, Eire.

Also selling across the Irish Sea at 2300gns was another ewe lamb from the Alfords. Foxhill Whitney, a Thackwood U Corker and a natural sister to the 17,000gns Foxhill Walkabout, sold to Sheila Malcomson for her Ringclare flock, Donaghmore, Newry.

Back amongst the gimmers and the Edstaston flock of Robert and Jeanette Gregory, Shrewsbury, took 2600gns for an ET-bred Knockin Shockin daughter, out of Edstaston Petunia, an Arbryn Olazabal daughter. She sold scanned for twins to Knockcroghery Vald’isere, to Co Down breeders, D and S Cowan, Banbridge.

Dumfriesshire breeders, Helen and Hannah Sloan, Collin, received 1900gns for a gimmer by Edstaston Urban Warrior from their Rigghead flock. She is out of a home-bred female by Banwy Pick of the Crop and stood fourth at the Royal Highland Showcase. She was sold scanned for twins to Carnew Wisecrack to Steve Stamp, Highbridge, Somerset.

The mother and daughter duo also received 1500gns for a gimmer by Loanhead Rembrandt, carrying a single to Wisecrack. She caught the eye of Justin Evans, Dinas Powys, Vale of Glamorgan for his Sant Andras flock.
