A pedigree Beef Shorthorn cow and calf from Allan Jackson, Headlind Shorthorns, Lanark, sold for the top female price of £2000 at a native breeds sale at Longtown, on Monday.

Roadway Flossy Bess 26, a nine-year-old with a heifer calf by Dunsyre Horatio and in calf to Burnside Elite, was purchased by Cameron Jackson of Future Livestock, Inverkip.

Mr Jackson sold other cows with bull calves at foot at £1950 and £1850.

Maiden Beef Shorthorn heifers peaked at £1700 from Mike and Joanne Souter's Jodame herd from Marwood, Barnard Castle. Jodame Pamela by Lowther Factor, was purchased by AMT. Mason, Catton, Lancaster.

Pedigree Shorthorn cows with calves averaged £1710 and maiden heifers of all ages levelled at £926.

Belted Galloways from Messrs Robson, Castlefield, Ivegill, were topped at £1500 for the 2017-born Castlefield Oregano with a heifer calf at foot, purchased by Graham Tutton, Leapsrigg. Belted Galloway cows with calves averaged £1,187 with maiden Beltie heifers selling to £800 twice.

An Aberdeen Angus from Messrs Steel, Lessonhall, topped the bulls at £2300.
