Stirlingshire Limousin breeder, Robert Graham, certainly had plenty to celebrate when he took both the senior champion and reserve honours among the Limousins in what was one of the biggest breed entries of the show, with 64 cattle and more than 25 competitors taking to the ring.

Leading the charge for Mr Graham and brought out by stockman, Drew Hyslop, was the July, 2020-born ET bull, Grahams Rambo, which also clinched the senior male title earlier in the day.

Sired by the 38,000gns Ampertaine Foreman – which has bred progeny to multiple five-figure sums – this boy is out of the home-bred, Grahams Melody, which stood breed and inter-breed champion at the 2018 Great Yorkshire and Royal Welsh Show's, and has bred sons to 28,000gns.

Another ET Ampertaine Foreman son scooped the reserve senior male and reserve overall honours, this time in the shape of Grahams Ruben. On his first outing, this September, 2020-born bull is bred out of Podehall Isabelle, which was purchased privately from Ireland and has bred daughters to 12,000gns at the 2016 Red Ladies Derby sale, held at Carlisle.

Ewen MacGillivray returned home in style on Saturday when his Creran herd, from Barcaldine, near Oban, in Argyll, produced the junior female and overall junior champion in the form of Creran Star.

An ET daughter of the top breeding French sire, Sympa, this February-born girl is bred out of Lodge Iccolo, which was privately purchased as a weaned calf from Iain Callion, Stirling, and has gone on to produce sons to 10,000gns sold at the Stirling February Bull Sales, in 2019.

The heifer, Strawfrank Shonty, from Allan Campbell's herd based at Carstairs, was tapped out as the day's reserve overall junior victor. Having never previously been shown before, this March-born heifer is sired by the 13,000gns Westpit Oklahoma – bought at Carlisle back in 2019 – and is out of the home-bred, Strawfrank Jude.
