Welsh breeders, Will Davies and Paul Rowlands, hit the jackpot for their second year selling at the Select Seven sale of pedigree Texel females, at Lanark, selling the lead priced lot at 26,000gns.

The duo, who own the Usk Vale flock based at Lower Gaufron, Llandrindod Wells, went all the way with an ET gimmer bred from a Grougfoot ewe by Castlecairn Vavavoom, and sired by Hope Valley C The Stars. She sold in lamb to the 18,000gns joint purchase, Lakeview Earn Your Keep, to Alan Powell of Monnow Hill Texels, Monmouthshire.

Three others sold at five-figures with the second top price of 12,000gns paid for the pen leader from Alan and Hugh Blackwood's Auldhouseburn gimmer from Muirkirk. This ET by the Rhaeadr Best of the Best son, Auldhouseburn Corky, and bred from a 7000gns Allanfauld ewe by Garngour Yeltsin, sold scanned with a single to Saltcotes E Class, to James Theyer, Clanfield, Oxford.

Gordon and David Gray's Ettrick flock from Selkirk, always enjoys a cracking trade and this year was no exception, with a lead bid of 11,000gns paid for an ET gimmer by Ettrick Cocky Bob, bred from a ewe by Clinterty Yuga Khan. An ET sister to the £7500 shearling sold at Kelso, she sold carrying a single lamb to the 24,000gns New View Electrifying, to Jeff Teward, buying back some of his own genetics, New View, Staindrop, Darlington.

The first to hit five figures was the No 1 from Alan Clark's Garngour flock from Lesmahagow, an ET gimmer bred from a ewe by Sportsmans Admiral which made 10,000gns to Rob Evans, buying for his Hope Valley flock from Shropshire. She is by Craighead Crusader and sold due with a single lamb to the 5200gns Midlock Escobar.

It was another good day for the Welsh the previous night, when Myfyr Evans Rhaeadr flock topped the Lanark Texel Crackers sale, with a ewe lamb at 6000gns. She is by Sportsmans Dare Devil and was knocked down to Stewart Craft, buying for his new Balquhomrie flock from Glenrothes.

Robert and James Hamilton, Mid Shawtonhill, Strathaven, topped the Beltex with gimmers by Tiree Donegal, in lamb to Clary Fly. The sold at 3800gns and 2000gns with both purchased by Alan Miller, buying for the Lurg flock from Midmar, Aberdeenshire.
