Limousin cross steers were in demand at Hexham and Northern Marts' New Year show and sale of store cattle, when selling to £1640 from Messrs Clark, Paxton Dene, Longhorsley.

Paxton Dene also produced the reserve champion at the pre-sale show with a similarly bred animal, which made £1620.

The champion, another Limousin cross bullock from Andrew Thompson, East Unthank, Haltwhistle, made £1420.

The firm also sold 3333 store hoggs, which saw trade pea at £134 for a Texel hogg from JD Vipond, High Knitsley.
