The National Sheep Association (NSA) is welcoming farmers and crofters to take part in a tour of British Wool’s depot in Selkirk later this month.

The tour is part of the association’s annual regional member’s meeting (ARMM) for Scotland, scheduled for February 2, at 1.30 p.m. in the Ettrick Riverside Business Centre, Dunsdale Road, Selkirk.

The NSA explained that the tour provides sheep producers an ‘ideal opportunity’ to ask questions and learn more about the current wool market and future marketing plans of British Wool, supporting the UK’s sheep sector.

The £2.3 million depot opened last summer, with aims to enhance access and delivery of fleeces for sheep producers in Scotland and north England, thereby helping British Wool improve efficiencies in grading and processing wool.

After the visit, NSA Scottish Region will begin formally electing/re-electing its officeholders for the year ahead.

NSA Scottish region co-ordinator, Grace Reid highlighted: “Our annual members’ meeting is a great opportunity to learn more from NSA Scotland officeholders and staff on recent NSA activity in Scotland over the past year.

“It will also be a chance for NSA members in Scotland to become more involved with their regional committee feeding into crucial Scottish and UK wide issues, including agricultural policy affecting the sector.

“New faces are always very welcome and the NSA Scotland committee looks forward to seeing some old and new faces for an informative and sociable day.”
