With less than 100 days to go until the return of the GWCT Scottish Game Fair, organisers are promising a packed programme of family entertainment, countryside activities and live music at Scone Palace this summer.
The three-day event, organised by the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust, takes place from July 3-5 and is expected to attract thousands of visitors from across Scotland and further afield.
Held in the grounds of Scone Palace near Perth, the fair combines countryside sports, food and drink, livestock and working animal displays with a growing line-up of family attractions aimed at younger visitors.
Organisers say this year’s event will place a strong emphasis on hands-on activities and outdoor experiences for children, with Activity Row once again offering archery, bushcraft sessions, therapy ponies and introductions to countryside pursuits.
The Pass It On Young Sports programme will also return, giving older children the chance to try activities including shooting, fly fishing, fly-tying and casting clinics in a supervised environment.
A range of animal displays and demonstrations are planned throughout the weekend, including gundog and falconry displays, hill pony parades, terrier racing and performances from the Pegasus Vaulting Group.
Sporting attractions will include the Junior Macnab Challenge, delivered by British Association for Shooting and Conservation and supported by the Scottish Youth & Countryside Education Trust. Youngsters taking part can try fly fishing, air rifles and clay shooting, collecting stamps as they complete each activity.
Music and entertainment will also feature heavily throughout the weekend, with the new NFU Mutual Summer Party stage hosting performances across all three days. Acts due to appear include Rollin Drones and Jacobite, alongside pipe bands, dancers and local performers.

The Cookery Theatre will return with live demonstrations and discussions focused on practical cooking, seasonal produce and game. Led by Daniela Forbes, the programme will include guest chefs and cookery experts throughout the event.
A family cookery workshop centred around Scottish venison is also planned for Sunday, July 5, with children and parents invited to prepare a Middle Eastern-inspired flatbread dish using venison mince.
Children aged five and under will receive free entry to the event, while advance family tickets covering two adults and three children are priced at £69.
