It was the Holstein champion from local producer, Andrew Brown, Kirkhill, that led the way at a mostly dry Craigie Show to take the overall champion of champions award.
Kirkwell Oasis Poppy, a fifth calver, is sired by Sandy-Valley Oasis, and out of Kirkweil Calando Poppy. She was going one better than her previous achievements, having stood reserve champion of champions at Newmilns earlier in the season.
Reserve supreme was the Clydesdale winner, Clydeview Maverick, a one-year-old gelding from Brian and Diane McMillan, from Rothesay.
Daniel Hodge and his father Jim, Dykes, Auchinleck, secured the inter-breed sheep honours with the Beltex gimmer, Hodge’s Legacy, a daughter of the stock tup Ainstable Jurassic out of a ewe by a Mortons sire.
Reserve overall sheep was the Texel champion, a gimmer from Alexander Mitchell, Hall of Caldwell, Uplawmoor. She is by Wedderburn Highlander, and bred from a Strathbogie Cannonball-sired ewe.
The Hodges also won the inter-breed sheep team honours with three Suffolks, while the Cousar family from Howcommon, was reserve with a Beltex trio.
