AgriScot has increased the prize fund for its dairy cattle classes to a record £30,000 as the event prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary this November.
The purse is up £5,000 on 2025 and comes as robotic milking specialist Lely joins the event as a new sponsor of the popular dairy section.
The dairy classes, which take place in the main ring at the Royal Highland Centre on Wednesday, November 18, will once again feature Ayrshire, British Red and White, Holstein, Jersey and Any Other Breed categories.
Youngstock classes, introduced for the first time last year, will also return after attracting strong support from exhibitors. Open to competitors aged five to 30, the classes aim to encourage the next generation of dairy breeders and stockpeople.
AgriScot's flagship SuperHeifer and SuperCow championships are also set to make a return, with each title carrying a £1,000 prize fund and expected to attract some of the UK's leading dairy cattle.
David Booth, who will judge this year's dairy section, said he was looking forward to the competition.
"AgriScot is a prestigious event with a genuinely impressive quality of entrants," he said.
"It remains the premier date in the calendar for anyone involved in the dairy industry."
The inaugural Youngstock competition in 2025 attracted 19 competitors in an interbreed format.
In the younger calf section, first prize was awarded to Joshua Atkinson and Joanne Coulthurst with Absolute Doorman Santorini. The older calf category was won by D&J Brewster and D Gray with Whinchat Crown Royal Sara.
The 2025 SuperHeifer title went to Family Airey with Newcroft Lambda Farida, while Evening Holsteins claimed the SuperCow championship with Evening Sidekick Jennifer.
As in previous years, judging from the dairy ring will be livestreamed, allowing farmers and breeders unable to attend in person to follow the action online.
Organisers are also expecting a strong ringside turnout as exhibitors, breeders and dairy enthusiasts gather for what has become one of the highlights of the agricultural calendar.
Accommodation applications close on Friday, October 9, while cattle entries must be submitted by Friday, October 16.
