Father and son duo, George and Don Anderson, Brucewells, Netherley, bagged their first supreme championship in a competitive carcase section, when their heifer, a Limousin cross first landed the female title and then the overall.

Adding to the celebrations was the fact that their 14-month-old black heifer also won the bred championship. A daughter of the AI sire, Sarkley Goddard, she is out of a home-bred British Blue cross cow and one of 120 mostly Limousin and Simmental cross cows back home.

A full sister to last year’s supreme overall following her all the way to lift the reserve overall for Steven Smith, Sunnyhill. His show stopper, a black British Blue cross was bought at Dalmally last July from Killocraw, Campbeltown.

It was a cracking day for young Craig Buchan, Nether Savoch, too when he lifted his first tri-colour after just two years exhibiting. Craig (16) who finishes 12-15 animals a year, secured the bullock championship with a 21-month-old black Limousin cross bought from A Harcus, Tankerness at a sale on Orkney in August.

Another Limousin cross, this time from David Work, Mains of Dumbreck, lifted the blue and white sash amongst the bullocks. It is by a home-bred Dumbreck sire and out of a British Blue cross cow.
