A good crowd was forward for the Dumfries and Galloway Branch of the Blackface Sheep Breeders’ stockjudging and open tup hogg competition at Newton Stewart Mart, judged by Ian Campbell, Glenrath.
Mr. Campbell found his champion in a ewe by a £150,000 Auldhouseburn from Hugh Rorison, Clonrae, with the reserve honours presented to a Drumbreddan gimmer from Danny Hair. She is sired by a £2200 Grimmet.
Lead tup hogg was a Cuil-bred entry from Colin McClymont, Cuil, sired by an £8000 Elmscleugh.
The entry of 122 stockjudgers was topped by Adi Bullivant with 353 points.
