Carrickaldreen Rodeo, the intermediate and overall champion, attracted the lead bid of 6600gns at the Northern Ireland Limousin Club show and sale of bulls and females, at Dungannon.

The bull, an 18-month-old entry from P Murphy, Newry, Co Armagh, is by Mereside Lorenzo and out of the Ampertaine Foreman daughter, Carrickaldreen Jellybean. Rodeo carries myostatin traits of F94L and NT821 and headed home with Matthews Bros of the Briarfields herd, Glenarm, Co Antrim.

Taking silver and a price tag of 5200gns was the reserve intermediate champion Slieve Raphael, from J I and SJ McGeehan, Fivemiletown, Co Tyrone. Another by Lorenzo, this 17-month-old out of Slieve Isabella, was knocked down to Messrs Myrtle, Saintfield, Co Antrim.

The hammer fell at 4200gns for reserve junior champion Gleneagle Razor from J O’Kane and Sons, Coleraine, Co Derry. A 16-month-old AI son of Plumtree Fantastic, bred from the Ampertaine Foreman daughter, Ampertaine Ikea, he sold to Mark Gillespie, Killylea, Co. Armagh.

Selling for 4000gns to RM Sterritt, Newry, Co Down, was the senior champion, Millgate Reflection, from M Loughran, Cookstown, Co Tyrone. March 2020-born, this Larkhill Nuludo-sired bull carries two copies of the NT821 myostatin gene.

Heifers sold to 3500gns – twice. First was the female and overall champion, Blackwater Rizzo from K and S Williamson, Benburb, Co Tyrone. This 18-month-old heifer by Ampertaine Magnum is out of Homebyres Neema, and caught the eye of Alan Geary, Keady, Co. Armagh.

Matching that price was the similarly aged Carnew Rosie from J and J Aiken, Dromore, Co Down. She is by Mereside Godolphin out of Carnew Naomi and sold to Samuel Murphy, Waringstown, Co Armagh.
