Almost £400,000 changed hands at the Whiteford family's production sale of Ayrshire and blended Red and White dairy cattle from Middle Farm, Brampton, where 197 head sold to average just over £2000 per life.

Ayrshire breeders from across the UK and Ireland attended either in person or online, to witness the fresh fifth calver, Middle Mary MP top the trade at 3500gns when selling to Messrs' Seedall's Jamara Ayrshire from Blackburn. She is by Middle Panache and a grand-daughter of the Ex92 Marys JJS that was the dam of Beeline Star Mary Ex94.

Selling for 3300gns was Middle Elkins, a VG88 third calver by Cuthill Towers Highland Dream. She sold due in April to a son of Changue Martha Ex95, to J McCulloch and Sons, West High Ardwell, Stranraer

Another star lot selling for the same money was Middle Jessie EMJ, purchased by FJ and M Mattinson, buying for their Troutbeck Ayrshire herd from Wigton. Jessie which classified Ex95 in her fifth, sold served to Haresfoot Khan for next summer.

The Mattinsons also bought one of four to sell for 2800gns. This was Middle Freda, a Troutbeck Romantic-sired cow which sold due with her third next summer.

Lockerbie producer, RLG Taylor, Dryfesdale Gate, bought two of the 2800gns cows with the first being Middle Crummie VG8, a daughter of Middle Jessline bred from a VG dam and Middle Welsh, by Middle Vitality

Matching that price was Middle Princess JC, by Middles Jessies Cocktail. She sold due with her fifth around Christmas to P Kinloch and Sons, Ardoch, Dunbarton.
